Small win showing up this week to practice vibrato. Very slowly and focused each lesson. Love it when all the teachings do come together! It works.
-
Five days of vibrato! Don’t know if I can walk straight now.
-
Mixing it up playing 3 note arpeggios makes it even more fun. Happy Friday!
-
I learned something new this week-vibrato! Would like to get some songs that actually use vibrato, especially other than blues… any suggestions???
-
Small win, made it through every lesson this week in spite of schedule craziness. I have seen the vibrato before and often wondered how it was incorporated into playing the guitar or any stringed instrument, nor did I know there were three versions. Loved learning this technique.
-
This was a fun week for me. Playing all over the neck and actually making some music. Win number one.
Win number two was finally understanding vibrato and how to use it. I’ve watched musicians use it all the time but had no idea how I could incorporate it into my playing. Thanks Tony! -
really enjoyed this week
-
As much as I am enjoying yesterday’s and today’s challenges, I just cant get quite as fired up over vibratos as Tony. Even when he plays, the vibrato isn’t that noticeable and I don’t hear it lasting for the whole 4-count – and when I try it, well never mind! Vibrato or not, I’ve had a ton of fun with these two challenges – enough to keep me pickin’ on through the weekend. C u on Monday y’all.
-
Doing the vibrato showed me I needed to set my guitar up again. Playing down South all the time and I think my guitar/neck was tighter in the dry of Minnesota. It is humid in Savannah. I am not sure if that is why but, my strings are way to high.
-
34 days in a row and 61 sessions completed.. I thought this week’s Vibrato challenges was going to be difficult but they turned out much easier than I thought – maybe I am making progress 🙂
-
This one was hard for me to shake the chord to get the vibrato sound. I had better luck shaking the guitar neck. A work in progress.
-
Small win for this week is I’m getting better at my Folsom Prison song and was able to sort out the vibrato. Thanks Tony!
-
In addition to doing the vibrato challenge, I picked up two new love songs and lyrics that are almost in my back pocket. TAC IS VERY GOOD for teaching you pieces that get many new songs quickly under your fingers.
-
I like to use vibrato quite a bit in my music only on one string at a time. This is the first I have used it on multiple strings, felt strange but I like the sound.
-
Great week. I enjoyed it. Small win. I played every day for the past 36 days!
-
Show up all five days and fretting chords much better are my small wins for the week. Still working on picking the string with my fingers. Vibrato is very cool!
-
Learning vibrato was a win. However, I have a lot of buzzing in the strings when I’m doing it. Just need more practice. Another fun week!
-
Learned a new technique. Win.
-
I like learning new chord voicing. Good win.
-
My win was learning about the different kinds of vibrato and somewhat playing them! Enjoying the journey.
-
Lot of fun to play and getting vibrato down, although more difficult with 3 strings than one.
Another win this week as we continue to learn new voicings for chords and structures. -
My small win this week was realizing I’m getting better overall. Still missing smooth chord transitions at times and still hitting the wrong string on single notes at times but noticed yesterday as I went back to practice earlier saved lessons, that things I struggled with then are coming to me a little easier now. I definitely felt good about that! I love this course.
-
Slowly getting the vibrato and it’s fun!
-
To me, the chord voicings from yesterday sounded much better (to my ear) than the ones used in today’s lesson. So after I completed the lesson as presented, I simply added the bass notes to the chord voicings from yesterday and played the progression as presented today. Not too bad of a sound IMHO.
Bass notes as follows; A7=5th fret loE string, D7=5th fret A string, E7=open loE string…or…7th fret A string, your choice!Happy Friday all, have a great weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday for a new month of lessons 🙂
-
Hey Bill. I guess great minds think alike. I did pretty much the same thing. Still like the 5th fret A7, 7th fret D7 and 9th fret E7 best for these exercises. have a great week end.

-
I have never known how to do vibrattto and thought that it was only acheivable on electric guitar . . . even though I had heard it done on acoustic guitar . . . I never thought I could do it. My win was not only realizing that I could do it but finding out that I could do it consistently! Great week . . . needs more work but I moved the bar up!
-
My small win this week I logged in every day. I know more about vibrato, but mind and heart not in it this week for other reasons. Next week will be better and lesson repeats in several months.
-
Bet win yet with the exception of the vibrato
-
I enjoyed the 5-Day Vibrato challenge. I haven’t used vibrato much with chords (even though I love the blues) so, this week provided me with an opportunity to revisit this important technique. I missed Monday due to having to travel for an early work meeting but I made it up during the week and finished each challenge from Tuesday on. My small win was sticking with my routine, as much as possible, in spite of obstacles. I’m building and strengthening my ability/technique 5 days per week, every week.
-
That was a really interesting and helpful week. Originally coming from violoncello, I was very much aware of the confined vibrato type and also tried to use it on guitar, too. What worked to a certain extent, especially on the high strings. But I always wondered, how guitarists, whose technique I observed and tried to understand, very often did something different, more of a bending style. I never found out how to do that technically properly. Now the secret has been opened and I can properly work on these other two techniques, too.
-
I think I’ll save my vibrato for the electric guitar! Good week to learn and the exposure to vibrato.
-
I’m “celebrating” my participation in TAC for the entire month of April! You see I live in Tampa and my Michigainiac friends always come down to visit this time of year. We’ve had guests for a solid month. Making participation “challenging” to participate in the “Daily Challenge”. But I’ve got two more weeks to go before the last group of my snowbird friends fly North for the summer.
-
This has been a very interesting week learning more about vibrato! I didn’t realize the variation incorporated in this technique.
Thank you!

Small win – after second time round for this last week’s sessions, I finally understand how to use the edgy and shaking vibrato methods.
-
This was very different for me and at times I forgot to do the vibrato but small win was ccompleting very day and slowly getting better
-
Completed this week’s challenge, my first week after 30 days to play and 5 day challenge. Still fun, though challenging for me..
-
Playing vibrato on chords was an eye opener for me. A big win to be able to use them now to enhance my playing. Thanks Tony!
-
first time using vibrato. Seemed to go pretty well
-
I think that this weeks challenge of Vibrato was difficult, but I did every lesson which is my small win. At the end I thought I might be getting it a little. Its difficult for me to get my fingers on the right chord so shaking them is definitely different. But I see the value. Next go round should be interesting.
-
Hehe! 13 bar blues! (Extra A7 on the PLAY video). Vibrato is going ok, sometimes good and other times not so good. The timing on today’s challenge came so much easier (minus the the slap on the AND of 4 and plus 2 bass notes, really gives everything a natural structure).
My small win this week was having a lot of fun on my electric guitar this week learning (or trying to learn) some Jimmy Page riffs. -
I guess my small win this week is if I see it in any future
songs form the 60’s and 70’s my favorite favorite since I’m 75, if I encounter vibrato I have options and know how to play it! Also Tony’s acoustic challenge enable to never give up to learn and play the songs I enjoyed listening to! -
Small win…TAC anchored my guitar playing this week. Lots going on (distractions) but my guitar habit presses on.
-
Am I the only one thinking that vibrato could be the lost sixth guitar skill? Anywho, have a wonderful weekend TACsters.
-
Not only am I showing up each day but I’m seeing vibrato as a way to improve my playing. It’s always there at your disposal. Let’s squeeze it.
-
I have in my hands a blues machine. That is a win of big proportions for me. I hope you’re all feeling it.
-
Think of it as driver’s learning permit. With a lot of practice you will learn how to drive that machine.
I’ve been practicing for many years and am almost ready to take my driver’s license test. Run with it btother.
-
-
good exercise, I got it down quickly. I don’t see where i would ever use this
-
On Monday i didn’t know the names of the different styles of making vibrato. I always called them the shaker and bender method. It seems to me there are a lot of different names for vibrato methods. Those two styles are the ones i use the most. Good easy week. We must have a hard week coming up as the last 2 weeks were mostly do-able every day. Which set of lessons are next?.
-
Fun stuff
Have a great weekend folks. -
Fun Week!
-
I completely agree with @scotbscbgmail-com, could not have said it better. I hope everyone is doing well, and I can’t wait to read more comments. Have a great weekend.

Good week, 100% Good revisit of vibrato, much more structured than I’ve learned it before!
Congratulations, !
Challenge complete
Come back tomorrow for your next challenge
