So cool, to use vibrato with the entire chord. I’ve only ‘bent’ one string. Enjoyed this week’s lessons.
-
Fun week!
-
This week, the high E string advice was a game changer for me. The chords are much more interesting now. Great week!
-
Well that was fun! I could do the technique and I could keep up, so it’s a win all the way around. Not always quite getting the high e to sound, but still very happy with it.
-
Small win was showing up every day and triple enjoying the week! This is one I will revisit again and again!
-
Interesting. It was a fun week. Important to stay on your fingertips, and anchor to the neck. Overall I did pretty well. This is my first full week back after pneumonia. I’m so thankful this program is structured in such a way you can jump back in anywhere.
-
Small win, getting a little vibrato sound out of the strings. Although my fingertips are callused, this one hurt a bit. Time to cut my nails again.
-
Excellent week. My small win was learning the different types of vibrato! Especially on multiple strings, who knew!
-
I’ve known about vibrato by watching guitarist preform but never applied it. Given that I’m somewhat as a beginner, I figured that I’ll use it eventually. This week was cool that I got my feet wet in practicing. My small win is sticking to the program 5 days a week!
-
I always admired how real guitarists made their instruments sound the way they do when vibrato is used. Now I know! Still long way to go to make it sound good, but at least I have the technique down. Good week!
-
My small win for the week: I learned there was more than one style of vibrato. Also, I learned an A minor and an A major blues progression that was pretty easy to remember because the fingering stayed the same for all the chords. Love that!

Small wins: During a very hectic week, I showed up every day. Second win: I remembered during today’s challenge why my vibrato sounded puny, I remembered to arch my fingers so that the tips were making contact near the fret and lo and behold, the vibrato sounded better! Have a great weekend everybody!

not getting the sound i like out of finger picking sounds flat

Confined vibrato – harder than it looked – for me…but had a small win with ease of changing chords and implementing base notes on the beat. All in all, a good week.
-
This week has been a good week with my guitar. I think this program is going to be what I was looking for. See you next week!
-
I knew about vibrato but never really used it on guitar. It’s been helpful to focus on it for a whole week. I hope it does eventually creep into my playing now.
-
Solid week of learning, made it each day despite a busy work week. Didn’t know there were three types of vibrato! I loved the challenges this week!
-
This went along well for me ,but i need more practice with my fingering the chords and hitting all chords clearly and at the same time. the vibrato makes a great difference in the sound effect. I enjoyed todays lesson.
-
Small win – showed up and tried. Not too happy with the result yet, but I’m sure it’ll be better next time.
-
Cool set of chords – fun to play. Vibrato only OK – need more practice with the shaking of my fretting hand.
-
Was able to mechanically use vibrato and do the challenges, now I need to work it into my playing. I enjoy your upbeat and positive teaching style.
-
Chord vibrato is new to me. I’m playing and singing, “Mamie’s Blues” using high string chord vibrato!
-
Small win; improved steadily through the week. Thanks!
-
Small win. I learned how to do vibrato in individual notes and chords. Definitely opened up a new tool for the toolbox as Tony says.
-
My big win for this week was I came here to learn and practice three time each day. Each new day didn’t sound good at first but the more I came back the better it gets. Not road ready yet!!! LOL
-
Able to play vibrato using all 3 methods.
-
I was familiar with vibrato on single strings, but not on multiple at the same time. This was a great lesson.
-
Great fun! Last year at this time we were selling/moving so this is my first time with this lesson. Very enjoyable! Having some issues with vibrato due to my neurological condition(not parkinsons but some similar symptoms). My win this week is sticking with TAC and really enjoying it!!
-
This was a pretty easy week for me. Though I still have trouble with the twisty and the edgy versions, my win is getting this last day clean.
-
Like that sound so much more than just a strum
The outro for hotel California is loaded with it
Fun day -
I did all the challenges this week even though I didn’t enjoy it at least I know what it is now. Maybe as I get better I’ll go back to it and see it in a whole new perspective.
-
I enjoyed the last 2 days with the 7th 3 note chord vibrato over the single strings. This was easier than the single string for me. Happy weekend everyone!
-
Life got in the way and I missed playing yesterday, but my small win was getting caught up today! Happy Friday everybody!
-
I had done a little single note vibrato prior to this week but had never thought about trying with chords. Way cool!!!!! my win is I’ll start incorporating this into songs and save my hands a bit.
-
Great techniques for getting a little life out of what would otherwise sound dull.
As I’ve found on many of the other challenges, the line from Top Gun “Don’t think, just do!” describes a win I had. Thinking through makes me go slow and struggle more. after a few times through, if I stop trying to think through, and just play, I loosen up and do better.
Fun week!
-
I didn’t know going into this week that there are three distinct ways to waggle notes to create vibrato. I found in today’s challenge that I was using a lot of finger force to waggle the D7 chord shape. Though it sounded good, will need to use the technique more to have it become comfortable. I take it as a win, though!
-
Here’s my backhanded small win….I really struggle with vibrato…my hand just doesn’t cooperate with what my brain is telling me. The win is knowing I need some strength training in my wrist and fingers and this will benefit me in all kinds of other sports and activities. I have already seen improvement with some focused dexterity exercises this week and the result will be forever creating new magical sounds.
-
My small win this week was showing up every day eager to learn something new to add to my tool box. I enjoyed learning the vibrato technique in several different ways.
-
First time for vibrato. Learned it and liked it.
-
Small win starting to understand finger picking and the use of vibrato. Working on relaxing my shoulders when playing and I feel I’m heading in a good direction, Enjoyed the week,.
-
My small win was showing up for 5 days and learning 3 new techniques for vibrato. The vibrato on the small chords today was difficult at first but got better with practice.
-
Today was a solid win despite having very sore fingers from playing too much yesterday.
-
The vibrato for the D7 was difficult but doable.
-
love learning the “shimmy shake”. Never knew how that was accomplished, and honestly, didn’t think I would ever do it, however, I ended up grabbing a thumb pick, as my thumb plucking base strings is nearly raw!!! Thanks for all, Tony
-
After a really hard week last week, it was really nice to follow that with the vibrato challenge. Still challenging but not as much of a struggle. Thanks, Tony.
-
I enjoyed this week. A couple of small wins were using vibrato on simple chord voicings, really hearing the dissonance of the 7th chord, using the 7th chords on the 12 bar blues and then adding the vibrato. Technically this wasn’t the hardest week, but I think the simplicity made it easier to actually practice the technique.
-
Two small wins! Learning vibrato and small chords. I may have to use my Gibson J 15 for this. I tend to slip off the fret with my Martin DC Aura. It has very low action. Fun week! Thanks Tony!
-
#Small Win: Love playing a 12-bar blues (both bottom three and top three strings) with different types of vibrato (confined, leveraged, and edgy) for different circumstances!
-
My win was understanding the vibrato technique and having fun with it. It is something I can do. Thanks Tony
Congratulations, !
