Hi, Marisa,
Thank you for sharing your performance . . . your fingerpicking and voice are both beautiful and inspiring. Well done!
“River” is a favorite by Joni. I did not know about the Indigo Girls version and look forward to checking it out.

Congrats!
The 10 Essential Strumming Patterns is a great course.
It was helpful to me too.
Usually, I finger pick and have been neglecting strumming practice, lately.
Your post is reminding me that to revisit the course as I could use a refresher.
Thank you 😀

Oh, yes, pick strumming can be loud! 🙂
I also love fingerpicking.
If pick strumming is louder than I’m feeling, I switch to strumming with my fingers. Actually, I usually play with my fingers only, as the room I’m playing in is not huge and a light sound carries just fine for me.
Happy playing,

HI, Cadgirl,
Good for you! I’m very happy for you! Taylor makes comfortable, beautiful sounding guitars and you chose a very nice one!
The full size dreadnought shape felt large for me too. I also researched carefully before buying for my needs. I have two smaller size Martins, that I love . . . a 000-18 Standard and a Dreadnought Jr. The DJr. was my first guitar. It feels 3/4 size and is comfortable and nice sounding to begin playing with. The 000-18 Standard is beautiful sounding and comfortable for finger picking, she sings! The Dreadnought Jr., I like more for strumming. Love them both. Very grateful 🙂
Happy playing!

Dear MikeGaurnier
Thank you very much for your kind reply, and friendly invitation . . . much appreciated. Here in San Diego, we are in PST. Let me check out the timing with my work schedule. I’m excited and look forward to attending. Big smiles here.
Thank you for your inspiration. Also, I’ve noticed that you and a few other players make helpful “mentor” comments on the Daily Challenges. Thank you Mike (and others), who share your experience and help/mentor players that are newer. I’ve saved some of your chord and note advice for future reference. Thank you for this, too!
😀
Happy playing,
Cherie
