Check out the Skills Courses for the daily finger stretch module. That should help.

It’s listed with the “Getting Started” skills courses third item from the top.

We all know that the more we love our guitar, the more we play. Just consider it as an investment in awesomeness. Congrats.

Lovely. Captures a great feeling.

I really like Santa Cruz strings. They are fairly expensive but have a tremendous long life and unbeatable sound. My current set is over nine months a old and still sounding fine after lots of daily play time. For a dread use mid tension strings. I’ve used Ernie Balls and Martins, which sound good but that have to be changed much more often.

With the big pinky stretch I have found it helpful to move my thumb down to the center of the neck rather than having it rest on the upper edge. That will give pinky and ring more access to 4 and 5 fret blues stretches. Good luck.

I use the Santa Cruz low-tension strings on my OOO Martin. They are fantastic strings that last at least 6 months, making them a reasonable value. The tone is wonderful and they are comfortable to play. I’ve used them on my dread also in mid-tension and I was happy with those. I use other strings occasionally for fun and I still like Ernie Ball and Martin but my go-to is Santa Cruz.

It sure sounds like you’re on the right track with consistent practice and a great attitude. The program is designed for you to work at your own speed and skill level so it is not always clearly laid out like a cookie cutter course. You will need to create a plan that works for you. Stick with daily exercises and do the best that you can in a reasonable time. Add them to your favorites and possibly work some of them into a daily practice routine. You don’t have to master them immediately. As you feel ready, add the other skills courses, especially the Fretboard course. I can assure you that you will get an AHA! in the next few months as these dailies accumulate in muscle memory. It doesn’t seem to make sense at first, but all of these small skills become important as a whole a little later on. I’m on my 3rd year and I’m constantly surprised at how far I’ve come one grain at a time. My best advice is to stay consistent, alter your practice routine regularly, be patient, have fun, learn a song or two and keep moving forward. If it is in your means I strongly recommend the Fretboard Wizard course if you don’t have music theory under your belt already. It’s a great foundation for all of the other material in TAC. Keep on pluckin’.

I would recommend taking it sooner rather than later. I found it very helpful along with the skills course Navigating the Fretboard. There are a lot of bits of info that can help you right away but you’ll find that you will want to refer back to it often as you progress. If there are changes, you’ll be able to catch up easily. Good luck.

Also check out the 5 Day Crosspicking course for few slightly advanced exercises. In the weekly technique Classes you’ll find a lot of great exercises as you go. Be sure to save those so that you can refer back to them.
