I’m not sure I remember what pulled me into Open D. I may have been watching a demo of open D on YouTube or something and then I stumbled across the strumming pattern. Open D sits pretty well for my lower singing voice but this only the 2nd song I’ve ever done in that tuning. The previous one was a beautiful fingerpicking song by Maggie Pope & Under the Oak called ‘Big Sky.’

I feel fortunate that the stars aligned on this tune to match the words and tuning. Gotta love it when the songwriting gods give you a little nudge in the right direction 🙂

Hi Brian…I think you made a great choice with that 000-15SM. I’ve heard they’re lightly built and just great guitars! I hope you’re enjoying it 🙂

I’ve got a used Martin OM-18 1933 Authentic VTS on its way that I’m hoping will take the place of a couple instruments in my collection but to pay for it, I’ve got to part with a few things. I’ve sold a ribbon mic and cloud lifter but a couple instruments will have to go. The exchange rate is a kicker but since its a used model, the savings is worth it. What with the customs process it might take 2 weeks to get here…such a long wait 🙁

Yes, I was playing my CEO-7 for this one…it’s quite a versatile instrument although I’m probably parting with mine shortly to cover something else that’s coming.
