So, Short Story (which Mike, Dom and I are not famous for using), in the Old Forums (tac.tonypolecastro.com) there is a “Jam Clubs” link, and opening it gets you all of those TAC ever recognized. Find the one closest to you, geographically.

Each of the “Owners” and “Leaders” are still there (click on “Members”). If you really have a desire to get to one of these when they go live, contact the person(s) in that (those) categories, by PMing them in either forum (as long as the old one keeps running), or by asking for an invite in the Jam Club listing.

    It is going to happen.

I “own” (hate that term) the Mile High Jammers, and we will have live Jams again when the State of Colorado opens it up enough. I have been contacting everyone North of Castle Rock on the Front Range up to Wyoming, and if you get one of those messages, feel free to let me know that you want us to do.

Dom and Mike, thank you for explicitly making our status and existence clear.

Guitar Geeks Unite (or at least go Jam something).

  • Thank you friends for your kind support, and @Dom_T , I readily admit to being too nervous to be nervous.

@Tuckamore, hear from Tony? yes. On point and responsive?, mostly.

I hope that the growing pains the site is experiencing don’t drive you away from the one thing that the site is doing well, and that is providing guitar learning. The lessons are working, and yes, the colors and contrasts are not what someone like you, or me, would choose, but things are there that are planned to be there moving forward.

When I joined TAC, it was to get control of my hands and guitar strings, and yes the computer is the vehicle, and I gained a lot of help from others, but I am gaining control of my hands and guitar strings under the new Website, and hope, but cannot predict, its foibles will resolve.

It ain’t easy, but it’s happenin’. I hope you allow it to help you continue to succeed.

Walter R- You are working through the Challenge in a way that will leave a lasting impression. It may not feel as fast, and you may worry, as you did, but it is fine. Lots of current research that learning can be reinforced, and excellence promoted this way.

But when you do find something that really grabs. you and forces an uncontrolled smile, I suggest you play with that, too, as hard as you feel you can, and follow it where it leads.

The fun part of this Journey is very important. When you find it, grind it, and it will propel you forward, and your skill will improve. (Might want to capture it on sound or video so you can look back and see and hear the progress as you go.)

I am assuming you, like Tolkien, are telling these stories to you son and daughter. I hope one of those dwarven bluegrass beauties finds you soon.

    Mid life vertigo

    It strikes when least expected

    It drives me mad

    But I can’t feel, rejected.

@John, you are one of the people I wrote about in another post, that I look forward to hearing from, and hope you don’t disappear from my guitar life. Thanks for your thoughts, and insight, now, and always.

@Cadgirl , while you might be right, those of us on this side of the screen can only guess, and I know that Admin is assisting in getting the VOM postings up, pinned and consolidated and the hosts have brought it together with Admin’s assistance.

Would I like what we had before? Sure, but it is my guess that there are bigger fish in the frying pan, so after a week of fretting on my part (pun intended, sorry that’s just who I am), and I am trying to take the posture that somebody at whoever is developing this WordPress site will get done what they originally intended.

@Mark, you have two very strong approaches provided above, and I am going to offer a 3rd.

You like the tabs (which I kind of do), and I am guessing, you have no issue knowing which string and fret you see on the page, and can get to it. I wonder, can you move to that note by note by note without looking at your hands? If you can, and you will eventually, that is the memory you are worried about kicking in.

I build playing without looking as a goal to every lesson. Now I cannot do what @jumpin’Jeff can do (yet), and while I can do what @MommaTAC does, i don’t, as it never sounds like the string playing to me. But when I can move through the strings and frets without seeing where my hands are going (even for 2 or so bars of the lesson), I know that my memory is working. If it is a piece I like, I work on it without looking at the page. Success? Sometimes, but Progress? Always.

There is never one way to build skill, memory, tonal recognition. By working at it, though, you are moving toward your “by ear” goal, and great job.
