👏👏👏 @Jonathandavid 😱 That was a beautiful improv. The part I like most is where you bring the chord shapes into the melody🤩 that was an awesome sound!

I had to join in and play some riffs with my Martin Custom Lights 11-52 Phosphor Bronze strung guitar. The riffs I played were in Bm pentatonic, seemed to fit OK with your progressions. I had a lot of fun, and enjoyed your work, Thanks for posting.
Is the Scones VOM tonight? Best of luck, break a string (again)😱

MemberFebruary 8, 2022 at 10:09 am in reply to: “Dangers” of Chord substitutions as a beginnerHi @speckpgh , welcome to TAC. IMHO do not substitute! The transition speed will come in time (with lots of practice). It’s the repetition that builds the muscle memory between the fretting hand and the mind, if you choose to substitute, you’ll be short-circuiting that process. If your current speed is frustrating you, then move on to something else, you can always come back to a lesson at another time (if you want).
Believe me when I say, you will see improvement with just about all of your guitar skills over time if you maintain a regular practice routine – no BS – everyone that’s been here for a period of time will tell you the same thing.
Good wishes with your journey Sean, go Pens👍

@Loraine , your post was a great idea. There are so many new people (Newbies), and they need to know how to “operate” within the Forums. I would also like to let people know that it’s proper Forum etiquette to acknowledge a member for their response to your post. And by that, I mean that if you post something and people respond to your post, you should answer them in some way, so that they know you’ve read what they’ve taken the time to say – it’s just proper etiquette!
Thanks @Loraine for letting me use your post as a way to get this message out.

Hi @RichieT , as @Marty69 says, you have to purchase it when it’s offered. In the past, enrollment for FW was typically offered in the spring & fall. I don’t think it was offered last spring, but it was offered (for a short time) this past fall. Anyways, you can contact TAC Support and ask about it. Also, you can simply check the TAC Support page often (daily) and look to see if they have a link to Fretboard Wizard Enrollment. If the link is there, you’ll see it at the middle bottom portion of the page, (in small print) underneath the words “Tony’s Acoustic Challenge” – at least that’s where it was last fall – and it was only there for about 24hours, so you do have to be diligent about looking.
Good luck👍

Hi @alicbowtell@gmail.com , congrats on finishing the 30 Days To Play challenge. IMHO, you should do the “Next 6 Chords” course and then try one of the “Jumpstart” courses (there are 3 different Jumpstart courses). After that, try any of the 2 pages of Skills Courses & Challenges that interest you. There’s a “Blues 5 Day Challenge” and a “12 Bar Blues 5 Day Challenge” as well. This is your journey Alison, and all the Skills Courses are available to you (except Fretboard Wizard – that is a course that’s purchased separately).
Good luck with your journey Alison🤩

Hi @Ron49 , welcome to TAC. The idea here isn’t about mastery of the material, It’s about learning and understanding the material as presented (which you have done) as well as developing a consistent guitar playing routine, and having fun doing it. Over time, you will see progress – everyone here has for sure, without a doubt.
I think it’s great that you purchased FW, and you can start it any time you feel. For me, I felt I needed to “bone-up” on some of the technique courses before doing FW (YMMV). To be honest, I felt a little intimidated at first, because I thought I didn’t know enough of the basic music concepts to attempt FW, so I put it off for a little while. (I later found out I was wrong about that). Then I came across a Skills Course titled “Foundations of Fretboard Navigation” – well, after completing that, the thirst for more fretboard knowledge pushed me to start FW. I really gained a lot from FW although it didn’t all sink in immediately. So that was my journey leading up to FW. But this is your journey Ron, I do recommend doing Foundations of Fretboard Navigation before starting FW, but it’s your journey, and you can take the path that you want. Just remember to have fun👍
