If it works, it’s okay. I often use a variation of how Tony does stuff. His open A minor fingering is a standard example. He encourages it. I often use my ring finger on the high E rather than the middle finger Tony will use when finger picking. Congratulations on your intentional effort to make guitar progress.

Good and relevant question. I just got back from a trip and cruise to New England and Canada. Last month we were in South Padre Island. Earlier we were in Honduras and Mexico. (My wife has pent up travel demand after selling our business.) I’ve tried taking my Taylor Mini. It got crunched once on an RV trip with friends and airlines struggle with it in the cabin. I have taken my Martin Backpacker on the last few trips. It’s not the same as a real guitar but is fun with its unique sound. (Especially with drone notes. I like the dulcimer sound it implies). But the internet connection thing is often an insurmountable issue. I’ve snapped multiple streaks while traveling including this last trip. I carry several printed out tabs of lessons I’ve liked or benchmark weeks. It is an effort to stay with a habit while traveling but worth it. I’ve also had opportunity to meet other guitar playing travelers who have been attracted by the Backpacker or Mini and wanted to listen or okay it with me. And some entertainers on cruises or excursions have connected and share some playing. So thanks for starting this thread and encouraging others to share your travel dilemmas.

Nice rendition. Relaxed and contemplative.

It would take a long time to pay for an instrument from tips in Texas. But maybe it’s different in the swing state of Ohio. Keep having fun and drop in or post anytime.

Can’t not have fun with Dylan!
I had some time this week to go back to the Taylor Podcast and visit you mentioned in an earlier post with Tony as the guest. It was a good review of the habit building theory behind our guitar journey. Keep up the good work (including all those words in the lyrics).

Congratulations. Life is better with music and your guitar journey is adding to the quality thereof. Happy accomplishment. Look forward to continuing to share this journey with you.

Just start with this weeks challenge. You might want to go back to Monday and pick up the technique piece and give it your 10 minutes. Then go forward and catch up 10 minutes at a day with lick on Tuesday and improv on Wednesday. I am not sure of your proficiency but if you are good with chords, you can jump in tomorrow. This week is Blues. Don’t be disappointed if you can’t play it all in 10 minutes. Trust the process. It will come around again and you will find yourself improved.

Well that is certainly a bad turn of events. I’ll pray for you a speedy recovery. You inspire us all with your determination and enthusiasm.

Great “Dylan” chord progression. Contemplative. Reminds me too of “The Weight”.

Noted. I need to resolve to do more.

Good benchmark. I haven’t done one yet. I guess I need to trust the process. You are an early adapter.

It seems to take me a while to figure out I can be a musician and artist without having to be “Good”. Good infers comparative thinking and competitive thinking. A real musician only compares oneself to yesterday’s self. A real artist is not competing but only expressing oneself through one’s medium. Fun comes through that growth as a musician and expression as an artist.
