Lucky Duck. That reminds me a bit of my Fretboard Summit experience last August. It is such a warm place to be around so many musically talented and guitar focused communities.

That was so intense I thought you were going to come through the camera lens and start jumping around my Man Cave! Fun is the motif.

Let me add my welcome to the others. You will love the Fretboard Wizard 2.0 and the new song based technique lessons. With Tony adding more rug rats to his household, he has had to be more efficient with his time allocation. He has done well with these new ideas inside TAC while letting things like Acoustic Tuesday having to be put on hold. I recall when I had young ones, I gave up gardening and regular guitar practice. but as I neared an empty nest I picked both of them back up. I am happy to have you back in the forum.

Well in some ways a lot has changed Post COVID. But what hasn’t changed is Tony’s good instruction and an active forum. This year songs are being emphasized as practical examples of techniques. Jam clubs are no longer. Fretboard Wizard is reworked but still even more excellent. Acoustic Tuesday is gone and quarterly zoom sessions are replaced with a quarterly last week emphasis on the Guitar Journal. There are a few of us long timers still around. Tony’s family has grown with two new wee ones. All in all Welcome Back.

By the way, nice guitar!

I usually use a strap but often don’t if I’m in a hurry and just pick up it up for a few minutes of play. The most useful thing I learned in habit building is to not put your guitar in a case. The small effort of opening the case and taking the guitar out is just enough hurdle to deny one countless mini sessions. And I keep the strap on the guitar so sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t depending on the context of the mini session.

As long as your having fun…
And that comes through your video.

Thanks for sharing. Your bass line and fingerpicking add dynamics. I used to be able to sing but as I age my range suffers. Still I have to sing too even if it is not what I’d like. I started playing to accompany myself singing back in the 60’s. Now past my 60’s I play to reach the notes I can no longer hold. “But don’t forget to sing when you win”.

Thanks for the tip. It is a bright temporary solution.

You certainly had a deliberate face on. You got more relaxed as you went on. Good job.

What @drew.sudell said. He is dead on. I only post to emphasize the have fun part. You will learn to play G’s and other chords all over the neck if you stay with it. Certain voicings (like G up in the 8th fret B string D chord shape for Carol of the Bells at Christmas) are just so right to your ear. It will come. Be of good cheer.

I can’t recommend a guitar for you because I am not all that familiar but I do know not all guitar necks are the same width. My classical Ephiphone is much wider than my Martin or my Taylor GS Mini. If you look on line at a guitars specs it usually says the neck width and length.
As you play and stretch you will find your hand becomes more flexible. It takes a while but it happens. And it is not uncommon for your 5th string to get a little muted in a G Chord. Try the full 4 finger G and it happens less.
