What is recommended @steve48 , is to practice the lesson for at least 10 minutes, then mark it complete, and after that you can immediately forget it. Or, you can trying playing it some more later on in that same day and forget about it when you go to bed. Or, after playing it one or more times that first day, you can mark it as a favorite and continue to work on it during ensuing days.

Obviously, you can’t work on every lesson over and over again, day after day until you master it. You are supposed to put a minimum of 10 minutes into TRYING each lesson. That’s it. If you do that day after day, your guitar skills will improve. In fact, within just a few weeks, you will notice improvement. I have found that when a lesson came back around after a few months that I could play it better and faster even if I never thought about it again after the first 10 minutes I spent on it.

Music exists in the moment… then it’s gone. It doesn’t sit around like some dumb old statue. 🤣

Yeah, something’s wrong with this @Moonhare . That absolutely is not a copyright infringement. IF you were making money from this video THEN it would be a copyright infringement. If you posted a song from an album that would be a copyright infringement if the owners of the music pursued it. Obviously, most music owners do not pursue that type of copyright infringement. Anyone who is making money from their YouTube channel can’t post more than 2 seconds of a copyrighted song. Perhaps the problem was that you labeled it “Rain Song” without adding the it was a cover? I don’t understand what happened, but again, this should not be a copyright infringement.

P.S. I, like @Bill_Brown , would also like to hear this little recording.

Yes, @OC. , below the bottom, right corner of the playing screen, there are 2 little icons. The first one is a heart which allows you to “favorite” a lesson. That means you will have access to that lesson later after the month is over and those lessons expire. The 2nd one is a funny little icon with lines, sorta like a tiny tab, and if you click that, the tab will open up in a new window.

Wow, @62promise , @MarkD66 gave you such good advice, I hesitate to add anything lest I detract from what he said.

With guitar, form matters, sorta. The form it takes to create the sound matters. The form that allows you to be relaxed and not cause repetitive motion injuries matters. The form that allows you to play in rhythm matters. Otherwise, form doesn’t matter. This is music and not a sport.

As time goes on, you will be more aware of what form you need and more capable of imitating the form Tony has. In fact, you’ll be more able to see the form Tony has. But as Mark said, for now, simply relax and try to imitate the sound.

So, let’s start with the name “Takamine”, @Big_Red45 . There are quite a few factors that come into play when buying a guitar. @Marty69 alluded to that when he compared buying a guitar to buying shoes. It’s pretty personal. However, there is one factor can be immediately checked off when buying from certain companies… quality. You won’t find a better built guitar than a Takamine. Generally, to get a guitar of equal quality you would have to spend a lot more money than what a Takamine cost. In other words, you can’t go wrong buying a Takamine… assuming you know what you want in a guitar and this guitar fits. I own a Tak, so I can attest to this.

Second, if you have played the guitar, then you already know that you like this particular model and it fits.

But here’s the odd part. I can’t find a model EF 4555 anywhere, even on Takamine’s website. The have a family of guitars that are designated EF 450. Here is a blub about the “parent” model:

EF450DLX

The guitars created in Takamine Specialty Shop are very limited production models showing design elements that appear nowhere else in the Takamine line. Every so often we get the opportunity to acquire some exquisite examples of rare and valuable tone woods. These timbers are so unique they deserve an extraordinary guitar to show off their natural brilliance. The EF450DLX NEX brings your stage presence to a whole new level. From the intricately inlaid pick guard and fretboard to the stunning solid flame maple back and sides, every element of this guitar was chosen to catch the eye and the ear. The combination of solid sitka spruce over solid flame maple back and sides creates a harmonic richness and amazing level of sustain to the voice of this guitar. Gloss natural finish and deluxe gold hardware put the finishing touch on this visually striking instrument. Includes Takamine’s Palathetic™ pickup, known in the industry as one of the most accurate and natural sounding acoustic/electric pickups. Takamine’s TLD Line Driver provides the player with an active output.

I have to ask if you have the model number correct. If so, I am really confused as Takamine’s website is extremely well designed and I can find any custom guitar they ever built. So, if you are sure that you have the model number correct, I would be worried about the “real” story behind this particular guitar.

The other side of the coin is, if anyone was trying to make a “fake” Takamine, they’d be very careful to use a model number that existed in the Takamine line. So again, I’m confused. The first thing you need to do is check and see if you have the model number correct.

If this is a genuine Takamine and you like it, I’d have to say jump on it. Their electronics are second to none and better than most. If fact, I would not swear that anyone makes pickups and preamps that can equal Takamine’s.

I hope this helps you make a good decision. Please let us know what you find out and what you decide to do. I would be interested in the rest of the stroy.

Hey @Kim-Fitz , thanks for adding these details that you do regarding the daily lessons. This is an excellent example for @steve48 to see how others use the daily lessons.

Ok, I see what you are saying @Moonhare . They are “going on record” that this is technically a copyright infringement.

Anyway, you did a very good job on this recording. I really like it. Thanks for sharing.

Also, @801dda , there are guitar specific stretches that Tony teaches in one of the skills courses. Stretching may help quite a bit. But it would depend on what was actually causing the shakiness.

I hope you find something that works so you can continue to enjoy your guitar journey.

Hello @aisenstadt@msn.com , there are several things about these lessons. First, they all come around again. Second, it doesn’t matter that you actually learn these lessons like they were a song because they are simply exercises that will help you build you guitar skills. If there is a lesson that you do want to really learn, you must hit the little heart icon and save it to your favorites. Lessons that are committed to your muscle memory can then be incorporated into your song playing almost automatically.

    I hope this helps.

Hello @Big_Red45 , I made another comment above after I had read the rest of the thread. Yes, both of these guitars that you show in the picture are real Takamines. In fact, not simply “real” Taks, but exceptional Taks. Just looking at them it is obvious they are very high end. But the “holy grail” of Takamines? And very hard to find? All I got to say is Congratulations. I’m glad you snagged them. They sure are beautiful. And Takamine makes magnificent gutiars. If this is the best they make, then you have a couple of guitars that will rival any custom, hand-built guitar available anywhere from anyone. Awesome. 😍

  • Glad your issue is fixed @dharum . That’s what I was going to tell you, that you had to get a hold of support as there is no way to fix this issue on your own.

No need to feel silly @Bill_Brown . If it was obvious, we’d all “get it” , that is all of it, right from the start. There is nothing on the guitar that is complicated once you “get it”, but still we didn’t get it for a while.

The best insights are the ones you find on your own. This was a great light bulb moment and I think you should feel good about it and it is/was definitely worthy of a small win posting.

Ok, I guess I should have read the rest of the thread. I can’t delete my previous comment, so I will simply make an additional comment to try and pull my foot out of my mouth @Big_Red45 .

I had made a mistake and thought you typed “EF 4555” instead of “EF 455S”. But even after I changed the 3rd “5” to a capitol “S”, I still couldn’t find any info. However, there they are in the pic, so that just goes to show what I know.

Obviously, they are full size Dreadnaughts and they are high-end guitars. Being Takamines, you don’t have to worry about quality or price. The market won’t allow them to be sold for what old Martins or Gibsons go for. And these guitars are every bit as good (and possible better 😮). They are simply beautiful. Congratulations.

    Hello Mark ( @mkjohnsons ), (and @jumpinjeff , @AttyTJ , @Guy_H , @That_Guy @Niels , @Moonhare , @DavidScoggins @SoCal_Ian , @Fletch )

You said: “As for me, one of my best/worst traits is that I’m an overthinker.” I sure do relate to that statement. I don’t think that trait does our guitar journey much good. Music is from the heart and received by the ear. In both directions, the signal has to go past our brain, and that’s the rub. If we could learn to make our brain leave the signal alone, then we would enjoy music more as it passes back and for between our ears and our heart in one direction, and between our heart and our fingers in the other direction. Just sayin’. 😎

Also “And it sure seems like there has to be some sort of goal line out there somewhere.” Why? I now think that is false. What is music, what is the goal of music? Isn’t it to have and to express joy? In other words, there is no goal other than to have fun. Have fun playing your guitar and giving others joy. Have fun listening to the music of others and receive joy.

I know there’s no magic “line” out there, that once you cross it, you’re now “good at guitar”, and likely also that even once you reach that “where you want to go” place, there will always be the “next”. Yet even after saying the above, I have to disagree here. There IS a magic line, but it’s not skill or understanding, but attitude and spirit. I have known people who could make magic with the guitar from the first time they picked it up. And any smallest thing they learn is immediately incorporated into their playing and expressing joy for the benefit of their listeners.

So…. doesn’t there HAVE to be some kind of big goal of some kind out there that we are ALL, actually, striving for?- (the reason we all joined TAC?). Granted, it is different for each of us. But if there is no “goal”, aren’t we just practicing just to enjoy the practicing?- (which is fine by me, by the way). Exactly.

I would love to add something @NoStringsAttached , but @Bill_Brown ‘s answer is so good that all I can really do is repeat what he’s said.

But I can add the info about Ultimate Guitar Tabs. They have the chords and lyrics to thousands of songs. And with the skills TAC has given me, I can actually learn songs just using those tab sheets.

I like that you are “sold”. You will make progress and you will gain understanding and your guitar journey will blossom. You did come to the right place. But, music is too big and too personal for anything to be the “one-stop shop”. This is the one place that will open up your musical world and light you guitar journey on fire.
