    After reading all the comments/advice you have gotten @queenkobraxx , I find I have nothing to add as far as advice. However, I can add my well wishes. It takes time to progress in our guitar skills and it can be frustrating at times. But we do improve if we are persistent and have good direction. The persistence is on us, and we have found great direction here on TAC. I think it is the best direction available.

    I will add my 2 cents to the smaller guitar advice. But don’t buy the first one you find, try them out in person at a store. There are so many factors to how a guitar feels that you can never know for sure with out actually playing one.

    Wow, @Guitargeezer ; that looks like a very feature packed amp. And I have talked to @Omar_A.H. and listened to him play on many VOMs. If he uses it for his live gigs and his Zoom VOMs, then it is indeed a great product.

    I have a small amp and I have owned several. I also have enough equipment to do home recording. I don’t have the money or the interest at this time to want one of these, but I am very impressed with what it does. If I had known about this amp when I was putting my system together, I would very possibly own this little dynamo.

    If you end up getting one, I would love to know what you think.

    Hello again @Guitargeezer ;

    I looked up those three guitars to see if I could offer any insight. I can’t offer anything beyond what’s available online in the descriptions and the review videos. I’m sure there are people here on TAC who have those guitars, but it seems like there are not as many people using the forums as before. 🙁

    Hello @NW7 ;

    Looks like you are taking point on this one. I would also be interested in your thoughts. It seems like it’s inexpensive enough to give it a go. I’m just not sure I need one. I don’t work with metronomes that often, and when I do feel the need, the audible one seems to work fine for me.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi @arbogajim ;

    Like @Loraine said, there is no “beginning” when it comes to the Daily Challenge other than the beginning of the week or month.

    The Dailies are designed to give you something to work on every day. There is no beginning or end when it comes to learning guitar. Each instructor has their own ideas on where to start and each student has their own preferences of what to learn and where to start. That’s exactly why Tony’s lesson plan is so powerful.

    1st, you have a plan every day of what to work on. 2nd, you work on a different area of guitar skill every day through out the week. 3rd, it doesn’t matter how well or not well you can perform the particular lesson. Whatever you are able to do will, over time, build your guitar skill in all the basic areas.

    If there is some skill, in particular, you want to focus on, go to the “skills” courses.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello @Guitargeezer ,

    This makes me sad that you have reached out for advice on buying a guitar and not gotten any response. On the old platform you would have generated a very robust conversation involving at least 20 people. One of the things we would do was “tag” people to join the conversation. I don’t even know very many “nicknames” on this new platform. But let’s try.

  • Hi @Whibs ;

    I agree with all the comments, that you have done an amazing job. This project is jam packed with “small wins”.

    First, you mention struggling with the strumming pattern. You mention that you were able to find something that worked by watching Tony’s video on how to work up a song. Let me just say before I continue, you did a really good job on the strumming. Ok, let me say, that the foundation of music is a beat, the rhythm. So to get the “feel” of a song, you must get the strumming right. Even when we are more advanced on our guitar journey, this can be a challenge. You have found the secret to this common challenge right at the beginning of your guitar journey. That’s a huge #small win.

    Next, you said you felt a “little rushed”. That means you were tense, which makes it very difficult to play. So that’s another big #small win. To play and sing this well with tension is really difficult to do. But another #small win is this opens the door to your learning another huge lesson that challenges people well along on their guitar journey. Recognize that tension and learn to let it go. If you can learn to play without tension early in your guitar journey your progress will be much faster and far more fun.

    Third, you recorded and posted. There are a number of #small wins contained in that accomplishment. You have made a wonderful start on a lifetime journey of fun and fellowship. Music is so fulfilling and the guitar is a marvelous instrument. I look forward to seeing more of your progress.

    Hello @handlebarmike ;

    I like the question. I like that you asked the question. Just this past week in the Acoustic Tuesday Show, Tony said “the only stupid question is the question you don’t ask”. I think you have gotten some good replies. I would like to add my 2 cents.

    The direct answer to your question is yes, it is totally acceptable for you to shorten the 30 Day Challenge. I think many of us with years of previous experience who choose to take the course and not skip it entirely did go through it much quicker than 30 days. And my absolute beginners need to spend more than 30 days.

    There are 2 difficulties in not at least watching each video. One is that you don’t get that section marked complete and the tracking system shows you as being incomplete. That’s very easy to fix. You don’t have to watch the video to simple hit the “mark complete” button. The other one is interesting. Many times, Tony says something even in the basic lesson videos, that were an interesting insight I had not heard or read before. I ended up listening to all the videos. But hey, I think it’s completely up to you. This program is set up so that everyone can do it in their way and their time. There are no “wrong” ways to do it.

    There is one rule, however: HAVE FUN!! 😂😎

    Hi @Freedom2ignite ,

    I like all the comments you have gotten. I’d like to add one thing. The definition of “complete”.

    First, what it does not mean. It DOES NOT mean you have mastered the lesson. It DOES NOT mean you can do the lesson fluidly. It DOES NOT mean you can do it sorta ok. It DOES NOT have anything to do with how well you can do the lesson or even what you learned from the lesson.

    What it DOES mean is you spent some time on it. THAT’S IT!!!

    If you spend some time each day on the lessons on TAC you will get better at playing guitar… eventually… slowly… incrementally. That’s been proven by thousands of TAC members.

    And the cool part of all this is there is only one rule: HAVE FUN!. That’s not a cliché. If you are driving yourself too hard you won’t have fun and you won’t progress at the best possible pace. If you are having fun you will progress at the best possible pace… for you.

    I hope this helps. Please don’t hesitate to ask any other questions you may have. As Tony said today in the Acoustic Tuesday Show: “The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask.”

    Totally agree @Guitargeezer . I’ve seen those alternate chord shapes on Ultimate Guitar Tabs. I’ve hovered over them just to see the number. I’ve even scrolled through one or two out of curiosity, but I’ve never really spent time examining even one chord “family”.

    Thanks for coming by and checking out my post.

    This is an excellent reply @mikelynch , thank you for your contribution to this discussion. Very helpful. I will remember your approach myself.

    That’s a really good point @Kristin1 . I’m glad you made that clear. That may be something I am still guilty of. I like to put rules on myself, so the TAC philosophy has helped me a lot.
