Well, I’m certainly glad you didn’t cut your finger off @Kim-Fitz, you would have had to start learning to play all your chords in a different way.

But, I’m glad your on the mend. And I’m glad that you are pushing ahead and playing what you can. That’s the spirit. Keep it up.

It is so cool being able to see progress that clearly. That’s wonderful. But to improve when you didn’t even keep practicing that particular lesson. That’s when you start to realize that Tony knows what he’s doing. This is not random. I am really happy for you @PhilBarru .

@Juhan, you have more that one win there. You sat down and did the daily lesson, that’s a win. But, you didn’t like how it went, to you did some other stuff. Guess what? That’s another win. Yay.

No wait, it not over, you actually go back to the pinky pulverizer and start to get the h’ons with that pinky. Now tell me that’s not a win. That’s huge.

Oh, no, but we are not done. You quit while your hand still worked. You knew you shouldn’t push it too far. That’s another win, yah.

But there’s still another one. You recognized that you will make more progress later. You just have to come back to it and you will get it better and better.

And I can tell you from personal experience that you are totally correct. I can do these pinky h’ons so much better than a year ago. In fact, I can now do the pinky p’offs. How’s that for insane?

That is a very good win. These h’ons and p’offs aren’t easy. Way to go @Taylornut61 .

This is a great win @MarkD66. To start singing and playing is a real accomplishment. You start feeling like you are really doing it. But then to share it. Wow, now that’s really special. And then your wife’s girlfriend? Wow. And I love the part about you’re having so much fun being real that your teenage son is shaking his he at you, instead of vise versa. I just love that. Way to go Mark.

Hello @DocBob, I am sorry you had an unfulfilling experience. My guess is you need to update to the latest Zoom client. Because of the amount of use over the last year, Zoom has been making a lot of changes resulting in frequent updates.

I hope the next monthly guitar party goes better for you DocBob. The whole reason for these changes is to try to connect to each other better. The replay will be posted by tomorrow if not this afternoon.

Guitar is cool, @Maydog, but it’s just not that much fun when we feel stuck. Thanks for posting this TACiversary so we can see how it has worked for you.

I just love how the daily lessons help us improve consistently even when we think we aren’t doing that well with them. But when we do notice that improvement, it’s just another boost to our playing.

Barre chords are huge. The number of doors they open, but yeah, that’s a pretty steep hill to climb. I’m glad you are making progress with them.

All the things you mention are definitely doable, and I’m sure you will get them. Next year, you will be able to give us the report on how your barre chords are and how well you’ve gotten the scale patterns down. And in the meantime, we just keep having fun. It doesn’t get better than that.

In time, you will develop the skills of playing intros and instrumentals just by doing the daily lessons. But if you want to accelerate that, you might think about taking the Fretboard Wizard course where you learn more about the fretboard and the musical alphabet. Also, think about the fingerpicking jumpstart or the flatpicking jumpstart courses. They will get you started playing single notes.

Yes, in order to see the Daily Lessons, you will have to clear your browser history. You might want to look at your browser history and favorite things you don’t want to lose before you do it. But, That’s what it will take.

Roy Williams finally retired? Wow, that’s going to be a hurdle for North Carolina.

Congrats on no heart burn, @JohnV . Maybe that happened as a result of playing guitar more? 🤣

That’s great @MoochasPoochas. I have heard great things about Santa Cruz strings, though I’ve never tried them myself. Hopefully they will help you make beautiful music.

That’s just awesome @Death-or-Glory. When we see progress, it really helps us feel good about our guitar journey and that in turn contributes to more progress. Like Tony says: “Fun and Focus leads to Progress.”

That’s something I’ve been working on since the beginning of my guitar journey, @Maydog . Seems like I’m finally making some headway since joining TAC. But, I’ve also picked up a lot more head knowledge, so I’m still behind. I figure, eventually my fingers will catch up.
