Remember the lessons? I can’t even remember a 2 chord song! Good luck my friend.

Sorry to see you go @Michael-K73 ! You were a great contributor to TAC and to its’ members when that was what TAC was all about. Now that the shift has been fully completed I’m sure we’ll be seeing other non-lifetime members falling off. Stay well my guitar geek friend and best of luck as you continue this journey ahead!

It’s actually “relatively” easy to get a pick out once you learn the trick. Centering the pick directly below the soundhole (usually where the label is) and then quickly spinning the guitar over will spit the pic out 90 plus percent of the time.

Here’s 3 ways to retrieve your pick though I’m using method #1 as described above. https://www.wikihow.com/Get-a-Pick-out-of-a-Guitar

The problem @krodes029@gmail.com may be that there’s lots of notes on the guitar and you have to find not “just” the E-A-D-G-B-e but the RIGHT E-A-D-G-B-e! If you’ve broken strings with the clip on tuner (man’s most awesome invention for the guitar in the past 30 years) then I’d advise you listen to an online tuner so you can at least get in the correct neighborhood. Trying to tune your high e string even one octave above the note it should be could easily break that string. Same with the others so you’ll want to listen online then “get it close” by ear and then use the clip on to get it dialed in. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Welcome to the guitar journey!

Nice win there @Burton F! If my memory wasn’t a living sieve I might be able to remember patterns like the pentatonic scales (which I’ve been attempting to memorize for years now with no success). I mostly play by sound and feel although I tend to stay away from soloing for the same reason.

My condolences @Loraine. A horrible experience that most of us will suffer through. My thoughts are with you and I hope your guitar brings you some comfort during this time and long into the future.

Welcome back to TAC @Mel A (your screenname needs an underscore between or you won’t get notifications of replies like this one as it’ll just go to whoever “Mel” is)!

TAC has changed a LOT in 2021. I hope you enjoy it and get much from your experience here.

Hahahaha! I guess if you’re not a regular VOM attendee you won’t get this but I really appreciated the shout out @Daniel_Morin! I was kind of disappointed when it went into the regular lyrics. 😉 Great version of this one in any case!

No offenses taken @Bill_Brown ….in fact, as I said above….I appreciated the “tribute”.

Ah yes, the sweet and sour of life. I’m glad to hear it’s leaning back to the sweeter side @Alfred. The guitar has certainly been a good friend to me during difficult times. It must be great to share that with family. Of course your dad was on one of the first VOMs I’ve missed in over a year. Sorry to have missed that. Hang in there man, I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you and yours.

Absolutely I’ll keep doing them @MikeGaurnier ! The only reason I missed the past few have been other commitments (like this in person open mic) or seeing some decent concerts lately as things open up some.

Really happy to share the story here @Real-Vic-G. Yes, it was 3 songs per person’s “set” and so I followed the format. I’m also being 100% truthful when I say I doubt I’d have had the nerve to do it had I not been playing for all those virtual VOMs and so my thanks goes out to you and the others. It was still a bit nerve-wracking when I considered the fact that these people could actually throw stuff at me if I played badly but that didn’t happen. 😜

Add 2 more, the Major and Minor 7ths and you’ve got a fretboard’s worth of chords you can use and color for so many purposes. I really don’t understand the aversion here to barre chords. They’re a musical, magical way to get the most from your instrument.

Again, sort of an “in joke” for the VOM crowd as I never show myself from the neck up on these Zoom sessions. It helps others to see what I’m doing on the fingerboard, protects what’s left of my privacy and also saves people from seeing my ugly mug. Yes, I still have hair AND a head under it but no need to show any of that when I’m playing online. 😉
