Hi @Dorf40 ,
Scott, really sorry to hear about your losses in the fires, but glad to see that you’ve been able to make a comeback. That’s a super huge win!👍

Hi @Jonesy , IMHO, its just math. Taking todays lesson for example, the 1x speed was 130 bpm. That means the 1.25x speed would be 162.5 bpm and the 1.5x speed is 195 bpm😱. I think it’s easier to use a metronome. I have a free app on my phone from Fender. I’m still learning how to fully use it, but for me, it’s working better than trying to match ridiculous speeds on a video YMMV🤔

Hi @jdwpdx47 , I just wanted to add that, like @JohnV mentioned, there are other major scale patterns (that are movable) on the fretboard. I’ll use JohnV’s template of string# and fret# to explain one that I’ve learned:
Major scale in the key of G
6th string: 3-5-7 (G-A-B)
5th string: 3-5-7 (C-D-E)
4th string: 4-5-7 (F#-G[1st octave]-A)
3rd string: 4-5-7 (B-C-D)
2nd string: 5-7-8 (E-F#-G[2nd octave]) You could stop here, or continue on to the 3rd octave.
1st string: 5-7-8-10-12-14-15 (A-B-C-D-E-F#-G)
This pattern is movable as well, the fret#’s and the notes will change but the string#s and spacing between frets will remain the same. So to play the major scale in the key of A, just move the above pattern up 2 frets – exactly the way it was done with the pattern that JohnV demonstrated💡 I only wish I was as computer savvy enough to show a fretboard visualization like JohnV (lol)😱

Try attending a “Virtual Open Mic” (VOM). This is not officially supported by TAC but is created entirely by amazing & dedicated TAC members. See the schedule & learn how it works here.
All the info is in this link, or you can also find it by clicking on the “Play For Us” Forum heading at the top part of the Forums page. The information is in the literature at the top of the 1st page – check it out👍

But the greatest thing is that everyone was very encouraging, even though I flubbed! I was extremely grateful for their kind words in the midst of my debacle. That’s what allowed me to continue when I did hear someone say the next line👍

I have played that song a bunch of times in front of family and friends. But I couldn’t have recovered without you and everyone else’s help!
