Glad to have you back. The lessons teach you the skills needed for the music you want to play and improve upon. They go hand and hand. You’ll find that you will improve in playing the songs you are working on.

@TrevorR Congratulations on your 3rd TACiversary! You are correct, it’s progress over perfection and a journey to be enjoyed.

Thanks @Kitman . This is such a fun song to begin with, and the chords were easy enough. The bass picking actually came quite easily once I recognized that the base note was always played first and knowing which string to go to afterward ((had the help of a friend for that part).
And to be fair, this was actually a week into learning it. I originally posted my video from a day or two from learning it. I made corrections to the strumming from discussion with friend about base notes. 🙂

Thanks so much @Kitman ! I’m finding more and more songs to really play for fun since I can play some basic chords and transition better.

Any size is a true win and worth mentioning. 🙂

Hi @Steve2150 x WELCOME TO THE TAC community, and I have one other suggestion, I addition to the wider nut. Keep elbow bent. Try playing classical style or at least elevating the neck of the guitar. Then push elbow in and down a little – which moves your hand down and keeps fingers bent. Then, while you have a good arch to your hand and are playing with your fingertips, try moving your index finger up a little on the low E. So that the pad of the finger moves up and away, then move the index finger up a little on the low E string, essentially Moving the pad off the A string and using it more for the Low E.

I used to read a lot and watched true crime show. I haven’t read a book in over a year, and I got rid of my cable 1 1/2 years ago. When aim not playing guitar, I’m either drawing , going to concerts, (occasionally painting) or working.

Congrats @Truckin-On ! She’s a beaut. You’ll have to post a video of you playing something.
If anyone has problems with the pictures, I had to download them and then open them.

Hi @trevor_finally_learns_guitar Love tour moniker. Welcome to the TAC community, and it sounds as if you’re off to a good start. Are you taking the 30 days to play course? If you’re new or old to guitar, I always suggest starting there.
I was a completely green player when I started, and so anything to do with the guitar fretting hand was foreign to me. I remember when ai was learning to pick, that I had to slow it way down and consciously do the down up down up of the picking motion. As time went on, it became easier, and eventually it was embedded in my brain and picking hand, which automatically does the down up now.
Just a side note. Typically the up pick falls on the & count, while the down strum is always on the whole count. SUCH AS 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & would be DUDUDUDU, while a count of 1 2. 3 & 4 & would be DDDUDU

Look at you @bugmeist – In the big league now! Such a great experience, and you did really well. Who was playing with you, or was it like a mashup with everyone playing?

Really appreciate your kindness @jimtanya1981gmail-com ! I get most of my music from ultimate-guitar.com.

I felt such pride after restringing my first time. It is very satisfying.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. They keep me moving forward. Also, I told myself a while ago that I was going to play regardless of how good I was. It’s helped me get better.
