@niels This was a quality fun application of Octo. Love the way your gear was set up to give it that smooth cool vibe. Quite enjoyable. Thanks.

I, too, am discovering the whole fun world of alternate tunings but you are ahead of me in the ease with which you are adapting them to real song application. Good job and nice performance. (Also like the open casual setting).

I learned Pete Seger’s cover of this song over Wildwood Flower back in college and had forgotten about it. Thanks.. I’ll refresh this and put it back in the song list. Ruben James was a sailor who was medaled back in the Barbary Coast wars. They named the ship after him and later after the sinking was recommissioned. It was the rescue vessel named in the Sean Connery film, Hunt for Red October. Makes for good chatter for the audience when warming up to play the song. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve always liked that song. I need to learn it myself. Did you find a tab somewhere or just figure it out yourself? Good job,

Great reminder for us all to get out there and start playing with people again. I think I’ll see if the Austin Jam Club is ready to meet again. Inspiring and motivating.

Well thank you… I had not heard of Colter Wall and listened to his Kate McCannon Ballad. I liked the comment one made saying “he didn’t know his voice was so feminine until he heard Colter Wall”. Fun. Fun. I see why it inspired your song. Good job and keep up the creativity.

Very good performance and a special song. Your hard and persist work is apparent in the quality of timing, fingerpicking, and vocals. This is one of my sister’s favorite songs so it brought a warm feeling to my heart. Thanks.

Way to move along the trail partner. I’m plodding along with you. Enjoy the 4th with a little guitar jamming.

Get out your tearful hankie. 😢 Good job.

Love the casual lyrical approach you had, letting the song breathe and the words sink in. Nice love song of a simple heart. Probably why it is a classic.

An Cool Apple for a hot June is only fitting. I often wrangle with the switch from the tab to my head. And like dr_dave says, I do find getting the pick direction to flow is a key to letting my muscle memory take over. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve enjoyed your posts and performances on a few of the VOM’s I’ve attended. You and @AcousticVictor and @BrianSantos are an encouragement to others who are now self proclaimed guitar geeks.
Thanks.

How Warming it is to see someone emerged in the zone of this great “Classical” piece. Thank you for sharing this with us.
