That counts as a big win @CannaMouse . This site has disappointed a few people because they were looking for something else. But, most people love this site because it is unique. It truly builds a regular practice routine, which is the necessary foundation. It also teaches the most effective way to practice. But more than that, it slowly but surely teaches guitar skills across the board. Everyone who uses this site regularly for a while sees improvement. So yeah, this is a big win for your guitar journey. Welcome. <div>
Most important advice I can give you is have fun.

However, there are also many ideas on what that means. What is the best approach? That’s what you are talking about, the approach to teaching guitar.
This site is dedicated to teaching skills in such a way that we can figure out how to do covers ourselves and/or write our own music. If you just want to copy someone who copied someone and never become the original guitar player yourself, you are in luck. There are a bunch of sites out there that do that. But if you want to learn to be an original guitar player, well, you’re still in luck because you found one of the few sites that do that, and maybe the only site that does that very effectively.
These, of course, are my opinions. If you don’t like my opinions, you’re in luck again. Most people don’t agree with my opinions.

That’s great and it’s funny and it’s sad @Alfred . No, teachers don’t get paid enough. But then, now a days, many of them shouldn’t get paid at all. So the big winners in this is your kids cause you are teaching them.
Congratulations. And thanks for what you have taught me, also. The little tips on fingerpicking, yes, but also that rhythm for House of the Rising Sun. I getting it down really well.

Yes, @DavidScoggins , down the road I hope to have great dexterity. At present, I am stumbling along.
Thank you for the support.

Well, @Alfred , if you can go down to the 7th fret, you can go farther. You will have to slow down and “feel” your way through. It will be halting, but it won’t be long and you’ll be moving with better rhythm.
Thanks for coming by and giving support.

Yes, I am determined to do this. It’s going to be a long project.

Yeah, @Mark , the drills don’t seem to lead to musicality, but they will eventually. The musicality doesn’t actually come from the drills, the music comes from within you. But you can’t express that music without having done the drills. And believe it or not, the drills can help you develop your music when you “stumble” upon something fun and you kinda go off on a tangent from the drill.
An long time TACer said on the VOM the other day that it was never the new site or the “rules” that put the big kibosh on the discussions, but it was our perception. We stopped ourselves because of wrong assumptions. I think that is an accurate assessment.
It’s good to get back to having productive discussions. Talk to you soon.

I quote you all the time, so you definitely have “quoting rights”. 🤣

Yeah, I am coming up on 2 years @Marty69 , and my realization of how long it takes continues expanding. Eventually, I’ll finally crush the expectations altogether. So even though I keep adding time to the “how long will it take?” equation, I continue to grow in fun and satisfaction as the expectations shrink smaller. The payoff is playing like you did in this video. I love the inspiration.
